Introduction |
For Immediate Release
Contact: Dr. Thomas C. Veatch Sprex Announces Telephone Speech Recognition & Synthesis Application Development Partnering ProgramThese interviews are composed of a network of response contexts, typically set up as a series of question- answer pairs, where within each response context there is a naturally limited range of likely spoken responses by the caller. Such computer-controlled interviews are appropriate for development of airline and other reservation systems, unified messaging, automatic secretary functions, customer surveys, financial transaction systems, Internet browsing via voice, remote control of complex machinery and computer systems, replacement of human operators in repetitive spoken-interactive service bureaus, and in a variety of other tasks. Development of speaker identification and verification systems for security purposes is also a special competence of Sprex, Inc. Sprex, Inc. has an active working relationship with Entropic Research Laboratory, Inc., with a special competence in developing applications based on ERL's synthesis and recognition tools, TrueTalk & HTK. Sprex, Inc. relies on the expertise of its technical lead and president, Thomas C. Veatch, Ph.D. (cf. a technical resume). Dr. Veatch received a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania and has been a professor at Stanford University. He is fluent in the building of Hidden Markov model based speech recognition systems. With long-term technical interests in computational phonetics, syntax, discourse analysis, and telephony, his expertise is uniquely broad-based in the science and engineering fields related to development of applications of this type. Potential partners are urged to speak with Dr. Veatch about their application and how best to achieve their goals.
